Attention
MCEC is currently
having issues with our 939-7171 phone number after
normal business hours. If you
call the office after hours and receive a busy signal,
please call 1-866-567-2759 to reach our answering service. This number
is only good on after hour outage calls.
First,
check all fuses and circuit breakers. Check to see if your neighbors
have power. Then call 939-7171 or toll-free 1-800-757-7433 to report
the outage to MCEC. Always be prepared to give your account
number or your map location number.
It is noted on your MCEC monthly electric bill.
The account number (at the top left corner)
or your map location number (at the top
towards the middle) will let us know where your account is when reporting
an outage. It may be helpful to keep your account
number and map location number in
an easily accessible location for such emergencies. Your service will
be restored as quickly as possible.
Life-Support Equipment
Please let MCEC know the names and location of members who depend on
life-support equipment. We will make every effort to give priority to
restore service to members on life- support systems. We keep an emergency
registry and it is important that the information be up-to-date. Please
call our office at 939-7171. MCEC recommends that you have an emergency
stand-by generator in this situation.
Standby Generators
Stand-by generators are good insurance, particularly in situations where
a member is dependent on a life-support system. But, if not installed
properly and according to code, they can cause serious accidents or
death to those who may be working on power lines. MCEC would like to
know of all members who have stand-by generators. We need to know if
it is portable or stationary, as well as the size and make of the unit.
Please call the office at 939-7171.
