The counties of Monroe,
Randolph and St. Clair are on the move. Columbia, Hecker, Millstadt,
Smithton, Waterloo, and other near-by communities are booming as more
and more people discover the benefits of country living. Wide open spaces;
clean country air and water; quiet and peaceful surroundings; excellent
school systems; and friendly neighbors are just a few of the advantages
to living in this area.
Once you are here, you'll soon find other features of country living
to your liking. In the summer, for instance, it's much cooler. And,
while you might drive longer distances, instead of traffic jams and
stopping and starting at every corner, you keep moving on the smooth
rural roads and highways. It often takes less time.
But these aren't the only changes. In the country, your home will be
served by a different power supplier than in the city. Monroe County
Electric Co-Operative (MCEC) provides the electric service to farms,
rural homes, and subdivisions in Monroe, Randolph, and St. Clair counties.
